Introduction of Visual Experiments

For the final visual presentation and expression, I would like to use the path of tracking the dynamic movements of the hand as my observational perspective for visual experimentation, and possibly try more handmade ways of visualizing the experimentation, and I would like to choose to experiment with the cyanotype.

Referring to Sarah Espeute’s expertise in leaving traces of memories on fabrics or tablecloths by means of embroidery, which reinforces an atmosphere of nostalgia and intimacy, as if reminiscing about family life in the past, and the visual language of embroidery, which is also demonstrated in Judy Chicago’s work The Dinner Party, which makes me feel even more strongly that fabrics are a visual language and presentation that carries a strong emotional charge. This made me realize that fabric is a visual language and presentation with strong emotions, which prompted me to try to use fabric as my experimental medium.

In addition to this, Evgenia Efstathiou’s artist’s use of cyanotype to emphasize the absent, the invisible, is very much related to my project, as I want to bring back to life and focus on the small, unseen details of the dinner table, as cyanotype is essentially a way of seeing the unseen

Visual Experiments

In response to the observation of table etiquette, I collected and photographed a variety of gestures used in table etiquette.

By printing the gesture on polyester flim paper and then transferring it to the tablecloth by cyanotype, my tablecloth size is 2m*1.85m, due to the size is too big, so the whole process is a big challenge for my first time to try and use the cyanotype process.
